"Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men" (Mt.4:19).
"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and
they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,
no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one" (Jn.10:27-30).
The promise of eternal life our Lord made stands before us like a great beacon of hope. If His word is subject to
failure our faith is in vain. We who believe He is the resurrection and the life, the One who conquered death and defeated
the powers of this world, live by our faith in His completed ministry (Jn.11:25-26). And
we await His call. At that blessed moment we will fully realize eternal life! (1Thess.4:13-18; Jn.14:21;
17:24; Ti.2:13; 1Cor.15:51-52).
FOLLOW ME
The words of Jesus, "follow me", is the single most important command of The Lord to a person who comes to the cross of Christ
in need of salvation thru His Gospel. It is indelibly written as the preface in all that our Lord told us about himself, the
world, ourselves and the devil (Mt.4:19; 8:22; 9;9; 16:24; 19:21; Jn10:27).
FIRST IN OUR LIFE
For instance when he said "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to The Father but by me" He must be in us and we must be with him to approach God (Jn.14:6). He must be in
front of us and first in our life (Gal.2:20). He is God The Son. Only he can bring you to
The Father. Only he can give us a new life. How can we say we love him if he is not first in our life? Is he first? It's a
good time to examine ourselves. Is money, gold, silver, Christ's real estate (He made the earth), our "security", or anything
else before him? Then how on earth can we be following God The Son? Don't be saved but lost (Mk.10:28-31;10:17-27).
GOD KEEPS HIS WORD
We have our little secret gods we retain "just in case". We have our habits that come between he and us. Our nature is not
comfortable in "follow me". The Lord did not have it easy down here but that was his ministry on our behalf. We forget we
have an all powerful GOD, The GOD OF LOVE, our Father, His Son AND The Holy Spirit within us to strengthen us and show the
way to his glory. There is NOTHING he can't do. He knows what we need! Be it goods or money and everything else that is for
our godly life, in the power of His salvation and our best interests, according to his plan for us. He will never leave
us no matter what. He is God. He has promised to get us through this world victorious. GOD KEEPS HIS WORD (Jn.15:1-14).
A COMMAND TO US
In the Book of James, the brother of the Lord, we have a clear warning about ignoring "follow me". James is not talking to
the world, he is talking to the church. He leaves no doubt that when need arises we are to ask God for help and
be confident our prayers will be answered according to His will. Jesus prayed to his Father. Follow him. James speaks to the
rich who boast of their life and are merry. What do they really have? How about the double minded who go back and forth in
their "religious" life (Jn.14:15).
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and not count on your own understanding. In all your
ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Don't be wise in your own eyes, trust God, and depart from evil" (Proverbs 3:5-7).
LORD WE VOW TO FOLLOW YOU ALL THE WAY TO HEAVEN AND BEYOND THE STARS. FILL US WITH YOUR HOLY SPIRIT SO WE CAN SERVE
YOU HERE WITH THE BREATH OF LIFE YOU GIVE US.
CHRIST MADE THE EARTH * HE CAN GIVE YOU A NEW LIFE
